The DOLLARS ON THE NET API provides all the networking, all the communications, all the card company regulatory compliance, as well as a structured method of interfacing with your application. All you have to do is pass the information and retrieve it when it is returned.

Technically...

1. The information is passed from a buffer in your application and you trigger an interrupt (TCP/IP) or write it to an RS-232 asynchronous port.
2. A request is sent via network (TCP/IP) or cable (RS232) to the PC running DOLLARS ON THE NET.
3. DOLLARS ON THE NET's "approval/transaction processing" subsystem running in the background takes the transaction.
4. Approval is obtained by high-speed connection from the credit card company via a Credit Card Processing Center while DOLLARS ON THE NET runs in the foreground.
5. The transaction is saved for later settlement and passed to the foreground process.
6. Approval information is passed back to the network or port.
7. The network (TCP/IP) or cable (RS232) passes the information back to the originating PC.
8. Your application takes the information from the network and continues.
